UVW/Object xyz broken when using RC
« on: August 22, 2023, 05:56:14 PM »
Not sure easiest way to explain this but it seems when using noise maps in Object xyz and in some cases the uvw mapping RC changes how the material is displayed.

here is a quick comparison of using noise obj and noiseworld mapping, plane on the right and RC in the middle. as you can see when you swap to objxyz mapping even the intensity of black and white changes compared to the plane.

This has been causing issue with masking/blending materials. Seems to have happened after updating to the latest RC version in Max 2023.

Any ideas what might have changed? new setting I need to change?

Hi,

Please, try disabling the Display > Render > Use Instancing Engine option in the RC object to see if there‘s any difference. Also, if possible, please feel free to send us your scene to check it here. Ideally, if you'll be able to reproduce it on a minimal scene, which you can send us, it would be great.

Thanks in advance for any further details you can share about it with us / our user community (in case some user(s) will run into similar troubles).

Best regards,

Theo

I had same problem with my RC object, but was rendering ok on other users that didnt have latest update (were still on v5). turning off instancing fixed for me, but have had to up faces dramatically as scene is so large - any further info on this? thanks, Neil
