Post and Rail 2 preset - Weird Segment Limit issue
« on: April 29, 2022, 11:01:39 AM »
Hi

Can somebody figure out whats wrong with this RC object please...

Its from one of the default fence styles that comes with RC, but I modified it by replacing the round posts with square ones. Its a short fence (well short relative to our regular projects), but it keeps complaining about segment limits. Switching to point cloud or adaptive makes no difference.

I increased the limits dramatically already, however I dont see why I need to in the 1st place its a relatively short fence!

Attached zip is Max 2022 format

If I set only segments to 0, then max hangs

If I set faces to 0, then I still get the warning

Attached is a Max 2019 version of the file...

Hi Morne,

Do you remember which preset this was? There are a couple of post and rail presets but as far as I can tell they already have square posts. They also import to this scene as a new RC object much larger than yours so I wonder if the RC object could have been scaled which could cause some issues.

Thanks,
Paul

It`s your bottom input for the Panel generator that is causing the problem.

To be honest I cant remember from which of the presets it came from.

I just know its an object we used from few years ago that's been recycled and everytime we need a similar fence with slight adjustments, we just adjust this one. So it could have gone corrupt somewhere along the line.

But now, how do I fix it? Easier to remake from scratch?

You are using same segment for top and bottom. That segment has Y translate. Just pay attention to those. If the height of the fence is larger then this Y translate it will work fine. Don't have max now to fix this for you. Sorry. I'm on the phone at the moment.
