Hi,

Unfortunately, this is a limitation of the Adaptive mode which expects all the segments to be of the same size in order to be scaled accurately to fit the path. Due to the order of operations, it isn't possible to adaptively scale segments of different lengths.

The usual workaround is to prepare the geometry so that they are combined to form segments of the same length on the X-axis. You can see examples of this in this closely related post.

As mentioned in the Chapter 2 of our Next Steps with RailClone guide: "If you use default segments with different lengths and adaptive mode, you could find that the final segment sometimes overshoots the ends of the path. The Adaptive algorithm is only able to accurately scale the meshes if they are identically sized on the X-axis. So if you plan on using this mode with multiple segments, ensure they are all the same size."

I hope that clears it up.

Best regards,

Hi Dragan,

I've just done a quick test (please find attached a sample scene 240506_LimitsPaddingConditional_SampleScene_iToo.max) and in my style setup it seems to work just fine. Would you mind sending us / uploading your scene (ideally simplified and containing just this problematic object(s))? Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Hi Dragan,

I'm glad to hear that it's working fine now. If the issue reappears, please let us know. Have a nice day.

Best regards,

Hi, is it a bug or I just don't understand something?
I made two modules with differend width, and when adding Randomize node to it - it generates RC object that doesn't fit the spline most of the time.

Thank you Carlos! That was just what was needed. I wanted to have those maps folders automatically included  going forward.Running that process seems to have done the trick.

thanks again!

Limits Padding does not accept the result if some Conditional (If) Function is involved.

Hi,

With our libraries, we include a small script to add the texture path to 3DS Max automatically.

But according to your screenshot, this is a library from Vizpark, a third party creator.
Probably they don't include a similar script in their packages. This is optional, because each vendor may configure their libraries in different ways.

Besides this, Forest includes a mechanism to scan all libraries, searching for folders named 'maps', and add them to 3DS Max.
For performance reasons, in the latest releases this process is applied only to the builtin libraries, but not to the user libraries.
This may be configured at Library Browser->Preferences,as shown in the attached image.

Anyway, if you have already added the texture path manually, it's not necessary any further step.

Forest Pro (*) / Forest Library Not Including Some Maps
« Last post by MU3245 on May 03, 2024, 06:31:42 PM »
I have my forest library with numerous individual libraries. all are set up the same way and most work as they should. I have a few libraries that when I use in a scene the folder with the maps is not found. I then in 3DS Max use "customize project paths" to add the path to the map folder and that works.

I am unsure why for a few of these libraries the maps folder is not automatically found like it is with the rest of my libraries.

What do I need to do so that the Forest Library recognizes/finds these map folders.

Example screen shot is attached. Thanks!
