Cannot install Forest Pack Lite for Max 2016- no Advanced installation option

Hi all,

I am trying to install Forest Pack Lite for my 3DS Max 2016 here at work...
I found a topic posted here according to which there isn't officially support for Max 2016 and for that reason we have to go through the "Advanced installation" but I was not presented with that option when trying to install it (there were no options such as workstation, render slave node and advanced installation, just the various 3DS Max versions from which we have to choose.

Am I missing something or the Advanced installation is available only for the paid version?

Hi,

The Advanced Installation option isn't included in the Lite version installer.

In that case, the "path switch" can be specified in command line as Forest Pack supports also unattended installation (all necessary information regarding the installation of Forest Pack can be found in our on-line reference guide). For default location it might be used in a following way:

ForestPackLite437.exe /S /MAXVER=max2015-64 /MAXDIR=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016

I should mention, that it is possible to use it this way, it's not officially supported (and therefore not recommended), since it was compiled with beta versions of Max 2016 and V-Ray.

Anyway, the V-Ray 3.2 was released and we can compile our plug-ins with this build these days. We have plans to publish new releases during next week.

I did that through DOS and worked like a charm.
Just for anyone who could be interested- once you run that line under DOS nothing will happen (no notification for successful or failed installation will appear) but once you launch Max 2016 Forest Pack will be there.
