Cannot disable / hide RC and FPP Toolbars - they keep reappearing.

I've got plenty of experience with customising my toolbars in 3DS Max, but the Railclone and FPP Toolbars in 3DS Max 2019 cannot be hidden / disabled ?

I'm using 3DS Max 2019 (I don't recall having this problem in previous version, my last being 2017).

I uncheck them, I've saved and loaded the User Interface - and I've even deleted them !!!

And yet they still return !!

Please can you advise ?

I'm talking about the two seen on my attached image.

(my toolbar realestate is at a premium and I simply don't need these buttons around)

Hi, i apologize for the problems.

We had problems with the toolbars since we added them: they was not working correctly in Max 2017, in Max 2018 everything was fine, and now are broken again in Max 2019.
We have several support cases open with Autodesk about this, but without a solution until now.

Main problem is that system toolbars are not documented in the SDK, and there are not examples. I'm not sure if there is a problem in our code, or something is wrong in the Max side.
For example, we have not modified the code in latest releases, but it works fine in 2018, and not in 2019.

By now, i will include a flag in the configuration to disable the creation of toolbars at startup. At least you will can to disable them, to avoid this issue.

The flag is available in FP 6.0.9 (just released). You must add the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Itoo Software\DisableToolbars = 1 (DWORD value)

The flag turns off both the Forest and RailClone toolbar, but for RC it's necessary an update which will be released in the next days.

One more question: I do indeed use those toolbars... I'd just prefer they were left in the location where I last put them. I'm assuming that changing those keys does not remove the toolbars from Max, but instead just stops them from being reset every time Max is loaded?

Yes, the key just stops the plugin from creating the toolbar each time that Max starts.  If the toolbar already exists, is not changed.

I finally got around to testing this registry fix. It did not work as expected. Instead, next time I launched Max, the toolbars were missing (and not just hidden, but actually missing from the toolbars list). Is there a function to run to create them?

No, sorry.

But if the default toolbars are causing too much problems to you, i would suggest to remove them and create your own "user" toolbar, from Customize->User Interface.
All commands used in the iToo toolbars are available in the "Forest Pack" and "RailClone" categories. User's toolbars should work fine.

Hi,

when i recreate the toolbar for Railclone, the Railclone lister doesn't stay on the toolbar.
when i restart it is removed. (also when you give a Hotkey assignd to it is removed after restarting max)

is this a known bug, or is this just me?

Still having this problem with Max 2019 and 2020. Unfortunately registry hacks are not allowed at my clients. Please fix!

Unfortunately we could not fix the problems with the toolbar in recent Max versions.
We contacted several times with Autodesk (there is litte documentation in the Max SDK about it), but not got a solution.

We suggest to disable the Itoo toolbars with the registry fix, and create your own user toolbar.
The registry just modifies the Forest Pack user configuration. It's not needed admin permissions, and doesn't touch anything from 3DS Max or Windows.

That's correct.
You also can find an attached file (DisableItooToolbars.reg) some posts above. Just download and run it, to create the key.

How can I remove the toolbars completely without editing the registry?
The OP was in 2018. Please, tell me there's a reasonable solution for this.
