Using face centres of object
« on: June 03, 2019, 10:36:48 AM »
Hi.

I'm creating a stadium.  I'm using FP to distribute characters.

For the seats, I  have the top faces of where the character sits (just squares)

I've set distribution to Reference.

I've selected the seats object

I've set it to face centres

It's assigning 2 characters per face/object.

For clarity, I'm using a cube for this image

How can I tell it to assign just 1 character.

The seats object is an editable poly.  It's not triangulated.

There are only 4 vertices per face (seat)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for question. Forest Pack distributes items per face(Center of 3 verteces), not per polygon. Every Quad polygon has two triangle faces.

Hope this explains how ForestPack works.

Hi.

Thanks for the reply.

Can you think of any way I can get around this?

Thanks again

Hi. you can explode current mesh to separate objects:
convert to mesh explode to objects:

Recenter pivots

Then Clone and align a new "triangle face" with clone and align tool:

Hope this helps
