Maybe that was it. Glad to hear it is working now in any case.

Thanks for the file. I've taken a look at a single car and it would appear the the paint colour is OK. The variations between them were quire tough to see so I added some more vibrant colours for testing purposes and all seemed OK.

Hope that helps,
Paul

Hi Paul,

I can't get this to work, I've removed all the other cars in the RC definition, except for one, I tried to replace the Railclone color map as well (with bright colors). I tried with Vraycolors instead of using the color swatch. It justs ignores the other colors/maps/swatches. It only takes the first one. No idea why it works in your case and not mine. Maybe there's a bug with this RC beta?

EDIT: I just updated my RC to the latest Beta, and it seems it's working now. Not sure if it was because the update or because (as Realviz stated as well) I had to close and reopen Max for it to work. Although this is unlikely as I closed and reopened Max a few times in the mean time.

That's what I needed. Bricks get deformed a little anyway, but it's acceptable. Thank you!

Hi Dragan,

The file you attached is what exactly I wanted.

I don't think I would have been able to do it myself, but I will try to learn more about this intersting plugin.

Thanks again,

Hi,

thanks for the question. I'm afraid that the X Evenly parameter cannot be controlled dynamically (it must be the same for all splines). In RailClone 5 we have improved this a little, but it can still only be controlled in this way when using clipping spline with Extend X/Y Size to area.

Thanks,
Paul

The issue here is that you have bend disabled for the bricks, so if they cannot be deformed the gaps have to be opened instead. If you enable Bend, the gaps close up, but then the bricks will be deformed.

Another option is to change the generator's Y Mode to Free which will allow each row to be calculated independently. This will allow the brick sizes to remain closer to their original size and the gaps to close, but obviously, then the rows would get out of alignment (as would happen in real life). In the attached file I've added segments to the corners which has the effect of resetting the offset pattern after a corner. If you detach the Default input you can see more clearly how it is working.

I hope that helps,
Paul

RailClone Lite / How to control Evenly Distance with Arithmetic and XSplineLength.
« Last post by hobeijnk on December 06, 2021, 10:20:22 AM »
I am trying to control the evenly distance of a Linear 1S generator using expressions in an Arithmetic node. It seems to work alright until I introduce the XSplineLength. When using XSplineLength in the if conditional, Railclone will not produce any geometry. When I replace the XSplineLenght with a float or integer it works fine, even though the values are the same.
the expression I wrote is as follows:

Code: [Select]
return
if (Input1 >= 7, XSplineLength/2.0, XSplineLength/4.0);

Glad to read you found a solution. There is a limit on how wide a pavement can be before the edge loops intersect (basically no larger than the corner's radius) but apart from that, Curve Steps can really help.

Best,
Paul

For RailClone, the most common function will be to create a new RC object from the current scene.
