Problem identified and fixed for next update.
Until then please use sampleCacheLimit=0 as workaround.

Forest Pro beta / Library loading multiple items take a lot of RAM
« Last post by RealViz on Today at 11:45:01 AM »
Hello, I have again encountered a bug compared to FP8. If I want to load e.g. 30-40 objects at once from the library the whole 3dsmax starts to consume a lot of RAM and often ends up crashing or freez. Subsequent attempts to save the file are either very long, or fail (unless there is some RAM left and 3dsmax crashes).
However, this only happens when merging objects in V-ray proxy format. If it is a classic x-ref object everything seems to be OK.

In this case, it would be advisable to split it into two Generators. Please find attached a sample scene illustrating the possible style setup. Depending on the segment used, you can adjust the Deform > Flat Top / Flat Bottom parameters accordingly. I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Thanks. That gives us a clue about the issue.

I confirm that setting sampleCacheLimit=0 solves the problem.
For some reason I returned the value to the original when I tried the previous rendering issue https://forum.itoosoft.com/forest-pro-beta/slow-rendering-multiple-frames/

Ok. We use same V-Ray version here.

Are you using samplesCacheLimit=0 in forestpack.ini yet ?

Problem seems related with the new samples cache cleaning process, but for some reason we cannot reproduce these issues.
We'll continue making more tests...

What V-Ray version do you use ?

The problem is probably bigger. Overall, FP9 behaves very slowly on frames other than frame 0. E.g. also update surface etc.

Hi,

You can use the XSplineCoords.z attribute to drive the Z Fixed Size of the Segment. Please find attached a sample scene (240620_XSplineCoordsZSampleScene.max).

I hope that helps.

Best regards,

Thank you so much for the help, I have two issues I still cannot figure out.
1) I need to be able to slope the spline it follows for the top of the wall also. When I slope the spline for the top of the wall it stays flat.
2) I need the object to morph so it's smooth and not jagged like in the image I attached. Hope this makes sense.
