Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that you are facing these issues. Please update to the latest release – this problem has been fixed since Forest Pack 9.3.1 (Fixed wrong texture mapping on ForestIvy presets loaded from the Library). If your ForestIvy object still doesn’t render correctly, please reload the preset from the library using the latest version. That should resolve it.

A new update of the software is available:

Forest Pack 9.3.2

- Fixed random crash of ForestIvy while rendering with V-Ray IPR.
- Fixed: Forest object rebuilds twice during IR frame change in Corona Renderer (new fix).


Forest Pack 9.3.1

- Fixed wrong texture mapping on ForestIvy presets loaded from the Library.
   - If your ForestIvy doesn't look correctly on render, reload the preset from Library using v9.3.1.
- Fixed: some ForestIvy parameters are not initalized correctly when loading from the Library.
- Fixed: FP object cannot selected from viewport while running Interactive Render in Display->Adaptive/Proxy mode.
- Fixed: ForestSet triggers a Forest rebuild when modifying layers, even if ForestSet is not using layers.
- Paint/Erase mode can be changed dinamically in ForestIvy holding Ctrl/Alt key respectively.


Forest Pack 9.3.0

- Added support of V-Ray 6 in 3DS Max 2026.
- Added Distribution->Image->'Use as Density Map'.
   * It lets you to use Distribution Image as a grayscale density map, instead a black/white bitmap.
- Added random scale by Area (min/max).
- Paint/Erase mode can be changed dinamically in Paint areas holding Ctrl/Alt key respectively.
- Surface->'Scale to fix sloped areas' is limited to 150% to avoid very large items on sloped terrains.
- Context menu->Selector dialogs are larger and resizeable.
- Fixed: Forest object rebuilds twice during IR frame change in Corona Renderer.
- Fixed rare crash using Collisions Checking with large distributions.
- Fixed distribution interference when using both Include and Exclude area Falloff.
- Fixed error loading library presets with empty Custom Objects.

ForestIvy changes and improvements:

- Fixed bug which was generating different ivy distributions in render nodes.
   - Because this fix, ForestIvy generates different random distributions in FP 9.3, compared with FP 9.2
   - Please take this in account, if you need to edit ForestIvy scenes created in FP 9.2.
- Variable branch thickness using Min/Max Width and Scale Falloff parameters.
- Added Growth->Branch Rotation (min/max). Rotates branches around the trunk.
- Added Wind animation, using following parameters:
   - Growth->'Enabled': enables animation globally.
   - Growth->'Strength': global animation strength. Default 20%.
   - Growth->'Speed (frames)': animation speed. Faster with lower values. Default 300 frames.
   - Leaves->'Strength': animation strength for selected layer. Default 100%.
   - Branches->'Strength': animation strength for branches. Default 100%.
   - Display->Viewport->'Display Animation': enables wind animation in viewport (disabled by default).
   Notes:
      - Branches distribution may change when enabling Wind Animation, because some features are incompatible with animation.
        To keep existing distribution, it's possible to animate only the leaves, not the branches. This can be done settting Branches->'Wind Animation'->'Strength' to zero.
      - When Wind Animation is enabled, 'Growth->Death Distance' is taken as length of the hanging branch, not distance to the surface object.
- Leaves placement is properly adjusted according branch thickness.
- Improved behaviour of Surface->Mat.ID->Exclude. Now branches are prunned when hit an exclude surface.
- Baselines can be extended by painting over its end.
- Fixed: 'Use Multithreading' generates different branches distribution when it's enabled or disabled.

Please find attached a script prepared by my colleague Paul that fully automates this task. It locates the existing diffuse map and checks for other maps with filenames matching specific keywords (by default, diff or diffuse). If any are found, the script loads them into a new VRayBitmap and wires them through a Forest Color map. In our quick tests, it appears to work as intended. I hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the files.

There is something unusual in your scene: "ForestIvy001" is using "ForestIvy002" as surface object. That may generate unexpected results.
Please, can you fix it and check if that solves the problem ?

You can see the assigned surfaces from Maxscript, using "$.surfobjects", as shown in the attached image.
The wrong assignment can be fixed using "$ForestIvy001.surfobjects[3] = undefined".
