Forest Pro (*) / Rendering with forest, wireframe+triangulation shown as black lines
« Last post by GO6827 on May 07, 2025, 09:19:32 am »Hi
I'm having some issues with forest pack pro (9.2.1, but same problem on previous versions). When rendering with forest elements, the wireframe and triangulation appears as black lines on my geometry. I've attached images of the problem. The left car is merged into the scene and the red box is a standard box with 12x12x12 segments.
When rendering without forest elements in my scene there isn't a problem, but when adding a forest object (right car, same model as the merged on the left), the render is showing black lines on all of the geometry. The two renders are the exact same scene, just with and without forest element (and the Railclone that is used to reference the cars onto). 3ds max 2025 and Vray 7 hotfix 2, but same problem on max 2024 and Vray 6. The scene uses a daylight system, no effects added, just basic Vray setup.
The third image is with an override material where the problem persist. If I remove the forest element, the scene is rendering out normal again.

RailClone Pro (*) / Pedestrian walkway pattern
« Last post by Pitti.Archviz on May 06, 2025, 04:40:08 pm »Hi Everyone, I am trying to build this pattern attached.
basically it is like a running bond brickfloor where there is this gradient of rectangular and square tiles, the problem is that with the square tiles I can't fill in the gaps left by them.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve it?
thanks in advance!

I'm very interested in this example, it's exactly what I need but I can't open the max file attachment. And sadly, it's urgent !
Would it be possible to have more information ?
Thank you very much

Hi. Thanks for the challenge. We got to work, and Paul came up with the best solution first.
This method uses combination of techniques.
First we use Forest Pack with exclude areas, but additionally add two effects- One for scale, and one for repulsion:
These are controllable with curve, and numeric entries. This might be enough for what You wanted.
But Paul went one step forward. Here is technique, how to achieve more organic shape, as in Your reference:
There are few modifiers on top of forest object that does the job.
And for the grass You create new grass object and add tiles object as exclude area. You will have to play to get acceptable parameters, but ForestPack does the job pretty well.
Attached scene for Your reference.
Hope this helps. If You got any questions- ask.

Meanwhile, you can select the affected items and use Items Editor->Properties->Randomize.

You can use the 'Select Influences' option in the Merge window — this way, you can add all components of the Forest object simply by selecting the desired Forest object(s).
Just to mention, there's an option to select all dependencies of a ForestPack object, which is useful in these cases. You can find it in the quad menu by selecting the FP object, then right-clicking and choosing 'Select All Forest Dependencies'. This makes it easier to safely merge everything into another scene.
I hope that helps.
Best regards,
